This concept pairs three one-act, contemporary operas, in English into one 70-minute show:
Two couples playing bridge on zoom, a middle-aged woman meeting a blind date in the
times of COVID, to two millennials getting engaged safely with pre-exist health concerns,
these funny, warm and inspiring stories tell the story of us all with a sprinkle of pandemic safety.
A Hand of Bridge by Samuel Barber (approx 11 minutes)
Story of two elderly couples playing bridge together and their inner thoughts on life, love, and the choices they have made.
Statue of Venus by Jake Heggie (approx 25 minutes)
The story of Rose, a middle-aged woman who is leaving for a blind date at a museum. Rose goes through doubting what she wore to trusting her friends advise as she ultimately knows that love is in her future.
The Telephone by Menotti (approx 35 minutes)
A quirky engagement story that keeps getting interrupted by the telephone and one gossipy girlfriend.
